Laura:

Hello, and welcome to Who Are You?

2

:

We're a reasonably well done

sci fi watchcast by a couple of

3

:

friends who are currently watching

Battlestar Galactica from:

4

:

I'm Laura.

5

:

Xhafer: I'm Traffair.

6

:

Laura: And today we have

Season 1, Episode 6.

7

:

Litmus.

8

:

Yeah.

9

:

I don't know if where you're watching

Battlestar Galactica is doing this

10

:

confusing thing that my Apple TV

is doing, but it, in some places it

11

:

calls it Season 1 Episode 6, and in

some places it's Season 1 Episode 8.

12

:

Right.

13

:

Xhafer: the miniseries?

14

:

No,

15

:

Laura: Right.

16

:

Xhafer: that's not happening to me.

17

:

Laura: Yeah.

18

:

It's really inconsistent and very strange.

19

:

Xhafer: No, are they like

in the right order at least?

20

:

Well, I mean they

21

:

Laura: They're in the right order.

22

:

Yeah, yeah, it's like every time I

see it, when it's misnumbered, it is

23

:

just two more than what it should be.

24

:

Xhafer: Mm hmm

25

:

Laura: So I'm trying to make sure

that I write down the correct

26

:

episode number every time.

27

:

But if I mess it up, blame Apple TV.

28

:

Xhafer: We open on an old favorite

for us we open on space TSA

29

:

Laura: Oh, yes.

30

:

Xhafer: the Galactica.

31

:

Laura: Yeah.

32

:

We gotta have a space

TSA on like every ship,

33

:

Xhafer: Yeah, it's

important to have space TSA.

34

:

It's definitely not just

space security theater.

35

:

So,

36

:

Laura: Definitely, probably not.

37

:

Like, if it was space security

theater, you might have bad

38

:

people slipping through,

39

:

Xhafer: yeah.

40

:

Laura: Yeah,

41

:

Xhafer: you didn't check for bombs

on anyone coming into the ship, you

42

:

Laura: Well, I think they address

43

:

Xhafer: They do, actually, yeah.

44

:

Laura: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

45

:

I do not believe at this moment, when we

are at Space TSA, that anyone has a bomb

46

:

upon their, their person, their being.

47

:

Xhafer: That happens in a little bit.

48

:

uh, we see a Doral come aboard here

49

:

Laura: Mm hmm.

50

:

We only see them from behind at first.

51

:

Yeah.

52

:

Xhafer: as Boomer and the Chief

are hanging out at, like, a pool,

53

:

Laura: Yeah.

54

:

I wondered, were they, are

they in the water tanks?

55

:

Because I have, I have

opinions about that.

56

:

This is a gross thing to be

doing near everyone's water.

57

:

Xhafer: No sex in the

water tank storage room.

58

:

Laura: Yeah.

59

:

Yeah.

60

:

It's weird.

61

:

I, I would rather believe that

Galactica has just like a gym

62

:

with a swimming pool, but I don't

63

:

Xhafer: That's so unhygienic.

64

:

Uh,

65

:

Laura: Ugh.

66

:

So they're still at it.

67

:

Boo.

68

:

Boo.

69

:

We see the Doral leave his group.

70

:

Oh.

71

:

I don't understand how, surely

every time we have civilians aboard

72

:

Galactica, which I guess there are

probably reasons we need civilians

73

:

aboard Galactica sometimes, right?

74

:

Like, they're not just here

for a tour, I would think.

75

:

Xhafer: probably not.

76

:

Laura: Cause I think we get a day

count and this is day 17 and it's

77

:

like 17 days into an emergency is not

the time to be having tour groups.

78

:

Xhafer: Yeah, for sure.

79

:

Laura: but if you're going to

have civilians aboard Galactica,

80

:

you got to have a guy at the

front and a guy at the back.

81

:

Right?

82

:

Xhafer: Yeah.

83

:

Laura: Like don't, don't leave

anyone unattended for any reason.

84

:

At any

85

:

Xhafer: For

86

:

Laura: Seriously.

87

:

Xhafer: And like, I know it's like

the premise of this episode, right,

88

:

is like, oh, they've gotta tell the

fleet about the Cylon human, like,

89

:

I get it, like, I'm not trying to

shit in that cereal, but like, you

90

:

couldn't have put a picture of Doral up

91

:

Laura: Yeah.

92

:

And been like this person wanted

93

:

Xhafer: known fugitive in the fleet.

94

:

Don't let on board.

95

:

That's all it takes.

96

:

Someone might ask a question, and then

they get no answer and just be like,

97

:

If you see him, just fucking shoot him.

98

:

You know, just like, believe

me, he's wanted, we found

99

:

out he's around somewhere.

100

:

It's not that fucking hard.

101

:

Leoben, when you've only got a picture

of him as a body, might be a bit

102

:

harder to go if this guy shows up.

103

:

Um, you might have to like.

104

:

Contact your space mortuary and

pretty up the face a little and make

105

:

them look a little bit more alive.

106

:

Laura: Run the AI alive

filter over the dead picture.

107

:

Xhafer: call up the space six feet under

people from the other network and have

108

:

them come by and do the thing and, you

know but, but the very least, Doral,

109

:

you've got like official head shots of

110

:

Laura: For sure.

111

:

He was like real governmental personnel.

112

:

You've got stuff on him.

113

:

You could put something out there.

114

:

And you know, okay.

115

:

I, I did forget for a second the conceit

that Adama, Rosalyn, Billy, And a handful

116

:

of our main characters are the ones

who some of them know about multiple

117

:

Cylons and some of them kind of know,

but some of them no, no, like, but okay.

118

:

Not the rest of the fleet knows.

119

:

Still seems like bad military

procedure to be able to let a

120

:

civilian slip away from your tour

121

:

Xhafer: for sure.

122

:

Laura: WTF.

123

:

Come on, Galactica.

124

:

Grow up.

125

:

That's the theme of these episodes.

126

:

Xhafer: Anyways, Ty notices

Doral, who suicides him suicide

127

:

bombs himself in the hallway

128

:

Laura: Ty and Adama clock him and Adama

actually tries for like a run at him.

129

:

Xhafer: yeah,

130

:

Laura: And Tai is just like, tackled

him, like, no, that's stupid.

131

:

Like, Tai tries to get on the

phone and call for help, I

132

:

Xhafer: Yeah, broken clock.

133

:

Write twice a day.

134

:

Write two

135

:

episodes in a

136

:

Laura: you know.

137

:

Great point, god damn.

138

:

Yeah, so he esplode to Thiem.

139

:

Xhafer: we go to theme and we come

back to Galactica's burn ward.

140

:

Laura: Oh man.

141

:

We have a very crispy person and a

blood curdling scream back from Thiem.

142

:

Xhafer: Yeah, it is

143

:

Laura: Is.

144

:

And Starbuck is like in the middle

of this because she was still in

145

:

sickbay from her smashing up her

knee when she was being dragged

146

:

across the ground by her parachute.

147

:

So she's just like looking around

148

:

Xhafer: Yeah,

149

:

Laura: chaos.

150

:

Xhafer: I cannot do

anything to assist here.

151

:

I feel like I should be doing

something, but I cannot be

152

:

Laura: Yeah.

153

:

Like, I literally cannot

stand at this moment.

154

:

I think Adama told her at the last,

at the end of the last episode that

155

:

the doc thought that she would.

156

:

be able to save her knee, but, you know,

it's touch and go, that kind of thing.

157

:

Xhafer: it's bad.

158

:

Laura: yeah.

159

:

She is not helpful.

160

:

And Adama is demanding

to know the body count.

161

:

So we know this is, this is pretty severe.

162

:

Xhafer: After this the commander notifies

the master at arms about the humanoid

163

:

Cylons And of all the people you would

tell, like, of all the people that are,

164

:

like, in on the circle, the person who's

in charge of protecting the munitions on

165

:

the ship probably should've fuckin known.

166

:

Laura: For sure.

167

:

Especially when we had not told her.

168

:

You know, that many episodes

ago, her shit went missing and

169

:

was used to blow something up.

170

:

Like, the water.

171

:

Xhafer: if you didn't tell

her before that, you needed

172

:

to tell her after that, for

173

:

Laura: In that moment.

174

:

Yeah.

175

:

That was the time you needed to do it.

176

:

Especially when one of those

G4 detonators, I think they

177

:

called it, was also found on a Raptor.

178

:

Xhafer: Yep.

179

:

Laura: The same episode,

the end of the same episode.

180

:

Xhafer: Yep.

181

:

Laura: I, I think she is

pretty righteously angry here.

182

:

Heh heh

183

:

Xhafer: for sure.

184

:

She asks for independent tribunal,

independent uh, Meaning, free

185

:

of his bullshit, she wants to

be able to do the investigation.

186

:

And Adama uh, cedes, and then talks

to uh, the president about it as well.

187

:

Laura: Mm hmm.

188

:

Xhafer: they talk about

informing the populace.

189

:

Tai put notes that keeping quiet

about it humanoid Cylon's will.

190

:

Laura: Sigh.

191

:

Yeah.

192

:

I, I appreciate that this is

a tough call for everybody.

193

:

Because We see what devolves on Galactica

194

:

here, with this independent tribunal

and all of that stuff, but imagine

195

:

what is happening on civilian ships,

too, as, you know, we are all stuck

196

:

together, hundreds, maybe thousands of

us, on a ship that may or may not be

197

:

big enough for us to be comfortable,

198

:

and you take a disliking to somebody.

199

:

And you get your conspiracy

hackles up and start building

200

:

the case for why they're a Cylon.

201

:

I mean, this could be chaos.

202

:

Xhafer: Yeah.

203

:

Callie and some deck crew

build and set up a still.

204

:

The, uh, the chief shuts it down for

being unsafe, and then also offers to

205

:

help them out later that night fixing

it up to actually a suitable still.

206

:

Laura: Yeah, this thing is a hazard

and it is unsafe and we'll fix it

207

:

tonight and make it actually safe.

208

:

So,

209

:

Xhafer: Yeah.

210

:

Laura: not very long for

those stills to pop up.

211

:

You're right, because this is day 17.

212

:

Xhafer: Yep.

213

:

which I mean, like So you still have to

make, like, wine to make liquor, right?

214

:

Mm hmm.

215

:

It's a statement.

216

:

Um, You have to have some base alcohol

217

:

that you

218

:

Laura: have to ferment

219

:

Xhafer: You have to ferment something and

then you can condense it into a liquor.

220

:

Laura: did somebody get

into the potato stash?

221

:

Xhafer: Well, that's the thing, is like

Two weeks is like, depending on what they

222

:

used and what yeast that they're using.

223

:

If they're not using a brewing yeast,

it's typically slower if they're using

224

:

like a bread yeast, which is likely

what's available around on the ship.

225

:

Laura: Well, do you use yeast in a still?

226

:

Xhafer: well, no, you use

yeast before the still.

227

:

Laura: Okay.

228

:

Okay.

229

:

Xhafer: Yeast is what makes the

alcohol in the first place to ferment.

230

:

Laura: Okay.

231

:

Okay.

232

:

Xhafer: And so, You would

still have to do that.

233

:

That's going to take two weeks to

get a brew of sizable quantity to be

234

:

able to still, because when you still

something, you're taking it and you're

235

:

making it like a 10th of what it was.

236

:

Laura: Uhhuh.

237

:

Xhafer: know, and so you need, you know,

five gallons becomes a fifth of a gallon.

238

:

Laura: I 100 percent believe that

there was an alcoholic somewhere

239

:

on Galactica doing that math the

second things started breaking bad.

240

:

It's like, oh shit, I need to get down to

the galley right now and steal a bunch of

241

:

yeast and start that, or I will be feeling

really bad here in a couple of days.

242

:

Xhafer: Yeah.

243

:

Well, that's the thing is like

to get to this point probably

244

:

is like 12 days of work.

245

:

And if we're on day 17, that

means as soon as we're done

246

:

jumping every 33 minutes, someone

247

:

started brewing alcohol.

248

:

Laura: Uhhuh, There was probably

somebody thinking about it and

249

:

grabbing stuff during the 30 minutes,

250

:

, you know, at least running

down to the galley.

251

:

Okay, I got some potatoes this time.

252

:

30 minutes things happen.

253

:

Okay, now I'm gonna go

get the, you know, geese.

254

:

Okay.

255

:

Like

256

:

Yeah.

257

:

Yeah.

258

:

So speaking of day 17, that's

where we're going back to Caprica

259

:

and we find out what date it is.

260

:

And it's Helo and the rats.

261

:

Xhafer: Yes.

262

:

A Six, Doral, and Sharon

watch Hilo from a distance.

263

:

He wakes up, he kind of stumbles out,

264

:

Laura: Mm hmm.

265

:

Xhafer: and, uh.

266

:

they're just like, he doesn't quite

sure, quite know what's going on.

267

:

They're just watching from above

and they discuss whether he'll go

268

:

North for love or South for survival.

269

:

Laura: Mm hmm.

270

:

Yeah.

271

:

Xhafer: dumb is this?

272

:

Laura: So, this is pretty dumb.

273

:

Uh, Doral also says if he flees, he dies.

274

:

And I'm confused, because does Doral

mean if he goes south, he dies?

275

:

Xhafer: Like they don't need him anymore.

276

:

So they're going to kill him.

277

:

Or if he goes East or West,

they're just not interested.

278

:

Laura: or, do you really just

want him to stay put and if

279

:

he goes any direction he dies?

280

:

I'm confused, Doral.

281

:

You need to be more specific.

282

:

This is very

283

:

Xhafer: If you're going to scheme, scheme

at an understandable level, please.

284

:

Laura: right, right,

get on my page, Doral.

285

:

Xhafer: Meanwhile, the commander

and president discussed letting the

286

:

fleet in on the humanoid Cylons.

287

:

Rosalind is concerned it's

going to turn into a witch hunt,

288

:

Laura: Yeah.

289

:

Mm

290

:

Xhafer: rightfully.

291

:

So

292

:

Laura: I, I get it.

293

:

You know, it's not just about

the witch hunt in command.

294

:

It's about the witch hunt in this fleet

too, that, you know, we've had what,

295

:

12 days to start working on a police

force and some sort of justice system.

296

:

You know, people are going

to start Offering up people

297

:

they don't like as Cylons.

298

:

Like, I'm tired of living

with mother in law.

299

:

She's probably a Cylon.

300

:

Like,

301

:

it's not gonna be good.

302

:

She's afraid of collateral

damage, as she should be.

303

:

The Master at Arms starts questioning

the Chief's whereabouts, too.

304

:

Xhafer: Master Darms is

asking around the flight deck.

305

:

Callie and the still crew all give

different stories about where they were.

306

:

And where the chief was.

307

:

Not a good look.

308

:

Laura: This is so painful.

309

:

Just with each, like, new lie, and

then she gets to him, and his lie is so

310

:

inconsistent with all their lies, where

he says that he was asleep in his bunk,

311

:

Xhafer: While playing Pyramid

while inspecting the deck.

312

:

Laura: right, while being in

the galley, yeah, yeah, yeah.

313

:

Oh.

314

:

Oh, it's so uncomfortable.

315

:

Rosalind holds her press conference,

where she finally gives everyone the

316

:

pictures of the two known Cylons.

317

:

She has appointed the Tribunal.

318

:

Xhafer: Mm

319

:

hmm.

320

:

Laura: They're gonna find

the source of the explosion.

321

:

She gives them that

picture of Doral first.

322

:

And then we cut to, like,

Tyrell looking at Boomer.

323

:

And I'm just like, No!

324

:

No!

325

:

And then she also shows

the dead Lioban picture.

326

:

And warns anyone who sees these men

to call Galactica, or I think the

327

:

Office of the President, either one.

328

:

Xhafer: Yeah.

329

:

Laura: So Hopefully we don't get

any more Dorals sneaking around

330

:

anywhere like pieces of shit.

331

:

But I could still see, like you said,

Leoban was a dead guy's picture,

332

:

and that dead guy had gone through

some pretty rough radiation stuff.

333

:

Xhafer: Yeah.

334

:

Laura: I could easily see, if

we don't have a, an AI filter to

335

:

correct for that, that we fuck up

and Leoban gets on Galactica somehow.

336

:

Xhafer: While this is going on,

the Master at Arms grabs Tyrell

337

:

and Boomer for investigation.

338

:

Boomer just lies a bunch

and Tyrell is up next.

339

:

to.

340

:

Laura: Yeah, Boomer says

she's asleep, just like the

341

:

Chief had said he was asleep.

342

:

You just want to shake her the whole time

so she doesn't know where Tyrell was.

343

:

And then As Tyrell is getting questioned,

the, the underlings I call them, because

344

:

I don't know all their names yet, Callie

I got, she's so naive, she's like,

345

:

Oh, they're going after the chief.

346

:

And then someone else

points out that like.

347

:

No, they're trying to go after Cylons.

348

:

Like, if the chief is a

Cylon, that's a problem.

349

:

And she's like, but he's not, I just

know he's not, you know, the feelings.

350

:

And uh, then there's a guy in the

yellow jumpsuit who I don't know

351

:

his name, but I think he's the one

that's like being very practical

352

:

Xhafer: Is this the guy who goes

down forward or the guy who doesn't?

353

:

Laura: No, not the guy who goes down for

354

:

Xhafer: I don't think he has a name.

355

:

Laura: Oh, okay.

356

:

Well, I was immediately suspicious of

him because he's being very practical

357

:

about the whole thing, but then he tells

them, You guys better watch your backs.

358

:

Like, this, the game

has completely changed.

359

:

Watch your backs.

360

:

And I was like, oh, Is he a Cylon?

361

:

Like, I don't know.

362

:

That was just very suspicious.

363

:

It was probably written

just to make me suspicious,

364

:

Xhafer: Yeah.

365

:

Laura: so there's more questions

we cut back to Master at Arms.

366

:

She wants to know about the

hatch combing on Causeway Sea.

367

:

Xhafer: This is where the chief and

Boomer had their illicit encounter

368

:

Laura: Uh

369

:

Xhafer: It was also left unlocked

which allowed Doral to get

370

:

access to the small arms locker.

371

:

Laura: Yeah.

372

:

Where he made himself his quick bomb.

373

:

So that we did find out he didn't

smuggle that through space TSA.

374

:

So good enough job space TSA,

375

:

Xhafer: Yeah.

376

:

Laura: but not good enough.

377

:

Xhafer: Tyrell, in here, says the most

sensible thing out of anyone's mouth

378

:

until Adama at the end of this episode,

where he's all like case in point, the

379

:

Master at Arms is the person responsible

for letting stuff out of those lockers.

380

:

And also the person who's

grilling me about this right now?

381

:

We don't feel that that's

maybe a conflict of interest?

382

:

Laura: Yeah.

383

:

That, that is, I, I, I understand why

Adama kind of caved and gave her the

384

:

freedom to do this, but it is also.

385

:

A conflict of interest because all

of these weapons that have been taken

386

:

away and used for nefarious purposes

or placed in places you would think

387

:

that the master at arms would have some

kind of system that is good enough to

388

:

prevent this under any circumstances.

389

:

Or at least throw up red flags, like

if Boomer had to subvert a control

390

:

to get those six G 4 detonators.

391

:

There would at least be a

record of a control failure,

392

:

you know, even if we don't know who

did it or what happened, but there

393

:

was no record, I think, if I remember

back to that episode correctly, that,

394

:

like, it was just, she opened up a

thing and there were six missing.

395

:

Xhafer: Mm hmm.

396

:

Seems very

397

:

Laura: So, hmm.

398

:

Also suspicious.

399

:

Is it stupid or is it Cylon?

400

:

Xhafer: Mm hmm.

401

:

Laura: Hmm.

402

:

Xhafer: Uh, The Master at Arms goes

through all the crew's lies here

403

:

as well, where they saw the Chief.

404

:

He invokes his right to remain

silent, rather than admit

405

:

to his illegal relationship.

406

:

Laura: I guess I get it,

but I also don't get it.

407

:

Xhafer: Yeah, I don't get it.

408

:

I would have just been very up front

the entire time, at this point.

409

:

Laura: I mean, same.

410

:

Like, I, I would have said, like, look,

411

:

Xhafer: When the It's It's so easy

to explain too, like, Oh yeah, I was

412

:

in that hatchway having an affair

with a officer uh, who I report to.

413

:

That, that, that, we were

ordered to stop and we didn't.

414

:

Throw me in the brig for it, that's fine.

415

:

Um, negligence, whatever.

416

:

Uh, Those, those, all those kids

who said that I wasn't in different

417

:

places, that's because I caught them

building a stolen offer to help them.

418

:

Laura: Yeah.

419

:

Yeah.

420

:

Like, the truth would set you free

421

:

here.

422

:

And I mean, okay, it doesn't

actually set you free in that you

423

:

go to the brig, but it sets you

free in that you're not a Cylon.

424

:

Xhafer: Not to mention, as we find out

at the end of the episode, the Chief

425

:

Wasn't the last one out of that hatchway.

426

:

So how close is he, if he

tells the truth here, to Boomer

427

:

being implicated as a Cylon?

428

:

Laura: Yeah.

429

:

I don't know.

430

:

Xhafer: Mm hmm.

431

:

It's like, okay, we'll bring Valeri

back and we're going to question her

432

:

some more about why she left this shit

unlocked and why she lied about it.

433

:

Then

434

:

put her in the brig.

435

:

Laura: Yep.

436

:

Just some bri time for both of those two.

437

:

And separate Briggs.

438

:

. We need them, like, there needs to be

like deck three B Bri and deck two.

439

:

Bri, they need to not be anywhere

near each other, but a little Bri

440

:

time would do some, do some good

441

:

Xhafer: Crewman A comes in after

this and owns up to everything.

442

:

Laura: This guy, they, they all look like

a bunch of buffoons, these underlings

443

:

with like.

444

:

covering for their guy when they

should realize at this point that

445

:

the stakes are so way different.

446

:

We don't need to be doing that anymore.

447

:

Xhafer: Yeah.

448

:

Laura: Like, we need to be grown

ups about this whole thing.

449

:

They're all, I don't know

about the actors, but they

450

:

all come across as very young.

451

:

Xhafer: Yeah.

452

:

Laura: Not a good look for any of them.

453

:

Xhafer: No.

454

:

Laura: But we go back

to Caprica for a minute.

455

:

Xhafer: Mm hmm.

456

:

Laura: Helo starts to set out south.

457

:

Dusk, presumably.

458

:

Xhafer: Mm hmm.

459

:

Laura: Six starts mocking

Sharon for Helo not loving her.

460

:

He stops, pulls out his

gun, and heads north.

461

:

And Doryl says, oh, he loves you.

462

:

And then asks Sharon if she's ready

for the next step, and she confirms.

463

:

So this is where I want

to have the conversation.

464

:

What is up with these Cylons and their

obsession with making humans love them?

465

:

Six, as we talked, SixPT, in the previous

episode, is extremely jealous of Starbuck.

466

:

And you could almost make a case

for it just being something about

467

:

the Sixes at first in this scene,

because Six is like, mocking Sharon,

468

:

like, Oh, haha, he doesn't love you,

469

:

But Doral also seems to care

and buys into the love language.

470

:

And I'm wondering, is it just like

a you know, psychological problem of

471

:

like, Sometimes children of parents

who neglected them in some way will,

472

:

like, seek out partners who also

don't treat them well because they're

473

:

reenacting things, and I don't know.

474

:

Ja'far has picked up a piece of pizza,

listener, and he is eating pizza.

475

:

At me, because I think he doesn't

want to try to say anything.

476

:

He's nodding now, yes, and a thumbs up.

477

:

Because Laura's getting

too close to something.

478

:

But boy, it's, it's odd that these

Cylons really want to be loved.

479

:

Xhafer: It sure is.

480

:

It's good

481

:

Laura: Yeah.

482

:

Sharon doesn't seem to

react a whole bunch to this.

483

:

But Boomer certainly has some

reactions in this episode.

484

:

So.

485

:

Let's just keep going.

486

:

Xhafer: Baltar brings Starbuck

a cigar in the medbay.

487

:

Laura: Uh

488

:

Xhafer: And she's like,

man, this is crazy.

489

:

Um, given how close they were

to your lab, you, you must have

490

:

totally been the target, right?

491

:

Because you're building

the Cylon detector?

492

:

Laura: Uh Huh.

493

:

He has not thought about this, listener.

494

:

He is so far up his own butt he

didn't even think about, you know,

495

:

that his project was on CDEC and

they blew themselves up on CDEC

496

:

and maybe these Cylons in the fleet

really don't want to be found.

497

:

You see him shit his pants

right in front of Starbuck here.

498

:

Xhafer: Yeah, and it doesn't

help that 6BT is literally

499

:

pulling strings behind a curtain.

500

:

Laura: Uh Huh.

501

:

She's like, you hear the music and

you see her hand in the curtain.

502

:

Xhafer: it's so good.

503

:

Laura: Does, does Gaius hear the

music every time 6PT shows up?

504

:

I hope so.

505

:

Because clearly, you know, she

can be like behind him where

506

:

he doesn't know she's there.

507

:

Like, you know.

508

:

He might get, like, a feeling, but

I want there to be music in his

509

:

head, so it's, like, for sure, and

he gets to, like, cringe internally.

510

:

Xhafer: She quotes the 70s Hulk

show, which is fun because that

511

:

aired at the same time as Battlestar

Galactica, the The, The, you

512

:

wouldn't like me when I'm angry.

513

:

That was

514

:

Laura: Yes, yeah, he starts, he leaves,

you know, unceremoniously, very abruptly.

515

:

Uh, Starbucks bedside and immediately

starts whining to 6PT in the hallway

516

:

that they're trying to kill him so he's

going to destroy his Cylon detector.

517

:

Xhafer: Yep,

518

:

Laura: That's when she hulks out.

519

:

Xhafer: yep.

520

:

.

Laura: throws him against the bulkhead, the hallway, and again, he

521

:

looks weird as fuck in this hallway.

522

:

up against The, the hall

talking to something and a

523

:

crewman sees him doing this.

524

:

Like we see a guy, I think with a

gun walking through the hallways

525

:

and just like, look it gaas.

526

:

Why is no one suspecting

gaas of being asylum yet

527

:

Xhafer: Did you notice that like

whenever they're walking down hallways,

528

:

they're holding hands So his hand

is like out like someone's holding

529

:

it when he walks down hallways when

530

:

Laura: Yeah, just like

curled with the, yeah.

531

:

That's fucking weird.

532

:

Xhafer: Yep,

533

:

Laura: People should be questioning

Gaius at least a little bit.

534

:

And you know, he's pissed people off.

535

:

So, you know, witch hunt, you

know, it's gonna come around

536

:

at some point, I would think.

537

:

So weird.

538

:

Xhafer: After this, we cut over to

the set of Eiffel 65's Blue music

539

:

video, where Sharon gets beat up by

Six and Doryl to give her convincing

540

:

injuries before Helo finds her.

541

:

Laura: And Doryl punches her once.

542

:

And then Six goes to town.

543

:

Xhafer: beats the shit out of her.

544

:

Laura: And I'm wondering, is this

a manifestation of Six's jealousy?

545

:

That Hilo loves Sharon?

546

:

And so, I'm just gonna get a few hits

in on her to make myself feel better?

547

:

Like, she punches her in the

face, she like, gets her down and

548

:

kicks her, and I was like, huh.

549

:

Xhafer: I mean, is this the same Six

who Gaius was sleeping around on?

550

:

Laura: I mean, I don't know.

551

:

We don't really know, right?

552

:

We don't know what happened

to the Six that was on Caprica

553

:

during the

554

:

bombs.

555

:

Xhafer: Uh,

556

:

Laura: True.

557

:

Xhafer: it's not necessarily

the case but it's possible.

558

:

Uh, It's possible that if Cylons

are individuals, that this is

559

:

the same one reincarnated, or if

there's a shared consciousness,

560

:

that she would remember that

561

:

Laura: Yeah, she knows all those things.

562

:

Or are Sixes just jealous?

563

:

Xhafer: maybe Sixes are just jealous.

564

:

Maybe that's just part

of their, their thing.

565

:

Laura: I don't know, man.

566

:

Xhafer: Dom and Rosalind talk about

the tribunal's initial findings as the

567

:

commander is summoned to the tribunal.

568

:

Laura: Yeah.

569

:

Yeah, they get a brief moment

here where, you know, they're

570

:

like, Oh, this specialist has

owned up to some gross negligence.

571

:

Mm hmm.

572

:

But Adama's not convinced, because

he read the transcripts, and it,

573

:

we saw the transcripts, so we

know, like, this is suspicious.

574

:

This does seem like somebody's

taking the fall for somebody.

575

:

And Rosalind seems very suspicious of

Tyrell, as she should but it's too late

576

:

for much more discussion, as Adama gets

called before the tribunal himself.

577

:

Xhafer: Yep.

578

:

Yep.

579

:

Laura: But we go back

to Caprica real quick.

580

:

We're not done with Helo and Sharon.

581

:

Xhafer: Hilo lurks around a

Cylon facility of some variety

582

:

that has like two Centurions.

583

:

Laura: Oh, it's a facility?

584

:

I thought it was just like an empty

585

:

Xhafer: Well, I mean, I think any,

anywhere where the Cylons are at

586

:

this point is a Cylon facility.

587

:

Laura: Anywhere where two or more

are gathered as a Cylon facility.

588

:

yeah.

589

:

We've got this battle bot that's

dragging a human is it the same

590

:

BattleBot that gets a drop on him?

591

:

Xhafer: Uh, He gets a drop on one.

592

:

There's, I think there's

two battle bots here.

593

:

Laura: Mm hmm.

594

:

One gets a drop on him.

595

:

Yeah.

596

:

Xhafer: But he's able to take them out.

597

:

Uh, And he finds Sharon.

598

:

Laura: Hey, we didn't talk about this.

599

:

In the last episode, and I meant

to, but I didn't write it down.

600

:

This time I wrote it down.

601

:

It seems really inefficient,

or really poor design, that a

602

:

headshot should take out a Cylon.

603

:

Xhafer: Agreed.

604

:

Laura: Like, if you have the ability

to create a robot, you should put

605

:

redundancies in, or something?

606

:

Or don't store its brain all in one place?

607

:

Xhafer: Yeah.

608

:

Laura: Why would you make it so easy to

disable one with a shot to the brain?

609

:

Xhafer: I don't know, but I didn't

design Cylons, so hard to say.

610

:

Laura: we rescue Sharon, and

she says they should go, with an

611

:

ominous look back toward Cameron.

612

:

I

613

:

Xhafer: Yeah, the Master at Arms is

starting to interrogate Indama here and

614

:

make sure, to make sure, that the security

failures are Indama's fault for not

615

:

telling anyone that they needed to change.

616

:

Laura: mean, one of the questions she

asks very directly is like, Why did

617

:

you not inform Galactica's security?

618

:

Which includes her.

619

:

So, I get it.

620

:

Like, yeah.

621

:

Xhafer: Mm hmm.

622

:

Laura: She asked him directly,

does he believe that a Cylon

623

:

blew up the water tanks?

624

:

Xhafer: Yeah.

625

:

Laura: And he does.

626

:

Xhafer: Mm hmm.

627

:

Are there Cylons on board?

628

:

Probably.

629

:

Laura: Yeah.

630

:

Xhafer: did you let Tyrell

and Boomer continue?

631

:

Laura: And then she basically

implicates the lack of discipline

632

:

as a cause of Cylon infiltration.

633

:

Xhafer: Yeah.

634

:

Dama is culpable because of this.

635

:

Laura: Again, I don't know

that we're totally wrong there.

636

:

Xhafer: I don't think so, but

also this is a bit too far.

637

:

And Adama agrees.

638

:

He shuts it down.

639

:

The Master of Arms orders the

guards to make Adama stay.

640

:

He orders the guards to

restrict her to her quarters.

641

:

And just looks at him and

is like, Make a choice, son!

642

:

Yeah.

643

:

Laura: Yeah.

644

:

Yeah, he, he speechifies that this

is now a witch hunt and it's over.

645

:

And the men choose to obey Adama.

646

:

So I, I think they've probably

observed a lot of this tribunal.

647

:

I, you can't, I can't imagine

you have like a constant guard

648

:

rotation on this whole thing.

649

:

So they've probably seen enough to

make them just enough uncomfortable.

650

:

with the whole thing that they'd

rather listen to Adama right now.

651

:

And then we see Rosalind

give another conference.

652

:

So that specialist we got his

name, but I didn't write it down.

653

:

Socinus,

654

:

Xhafer: It's a sinus.

655

:

Something like that, yeah.

656

:

Laura: Yeah he's been thrown under the

bus, but just for negligence, not for

657

:

being conspirator, yeah, or asylum.

658

:

And.

659

:

Tyrell goes to Adama to admit

the truth about the whole

660

:

relationship and everything.

661

:

Tries to, you know, say that Sassinus

is innocent, shouldn't really be there.

662

:

but Adama points out that

he doesn't really know what

663

:

Sassinus was up to, does he?

664

:

Because he wasn't there.

665

:

He was with Boomer.

666

:

And we know that Sassinus

lied under oath at least once.

667

:

Because he said one thing, and

then he said another thing.

668

:

One of those times had to be not true.

669

:

Xhafer: Yeah.

670

:

Laura: And then he just,

like, stabs him in the dick.

671

:

And says, you know, if you kept

your pants zipped, none of this

672

:

would be happening right now.

673

:

Xhafer: Yup.

674

:

Yeah.

675

:

The chief is going to have to live

and serve with his guilt here,

676

:

Laura: Yep.

677

:

Xhafer: which, I mean, I don't know that

the ship operates without the chief.

678

:

Laura: Yeah, I don't know that I want

those little buffoons as adorable as they

679

:

are, trying to run this on their own.

680

:

Xhafer: Yeah.

681

:

Laura: I think we can be, I'm

starting to like develop a picture

682

:

in my mind of, I can't figure

out who is a Cylon at this point.

683

:

Xhafer: Yeah.

684

:

Laura: Not enough context and

material, and some of it's going

685

:

to be very misleading, right?

686

:

Xhafer: Yeah.

687

:

Laura: But I think Adama

gave me enough information.

688

:

And earlier when he and Rosalind were

talking about Tyrell, he said that

689

:

Tyrell's been on the ship for five

years and he's had plenty of time to

690

:

take it down if he really wanted to.

691

:

I think Tyrell is not a Cylon

692

:

Xhafer: Okay.

693

:

Laura: because of that.

694

:

And then also like he has, having

been on the ship that long, like knows

695

:

all the quirks of the older machine.

696

:

Right.

697

:

And the Cylons would really

need to know that stuff.

698

:

Right.

699

:

So, it would have been very

easy to get from him already.

700

:

So, I don't know.

701

:

I'm, I'm writing for team

Tyrell is not a Cylon.

702

:

Um, the other ones I've been

thinking about that I could get

703

:

behind for sure, they're not Cylons.

704

:

Xhafer: Yeah.

705

:

Who's not a Cylon?

706

:

Let's get a list.

707

:

Laura: Ah, Adama.

708

:

Not a Cylon.

709

:

Because he's too prominent.

710

:

You can't have multiple Adamas

just running around the fleet.

711

:

Like, he would have to be the only one.

712

:

I guess that's possible, is

that there could be a model that

713

:

there's just only one of them

714

:

Xhafer: I mean, only one in the fleet.

715

:

Laura: Yeah.

716

:

Xhafer: sense.

717

:

Laura: Rosalind seems pretty

safe to not be a Cylon.

718

:

for the same reason.

719

:

Xhafer: Okay.

720

:

Laura: You would have

to have just the one.

721

:

And I'm, I'm putting a caveat there.

722

:

You could have a model

where you have just the one.

723

:

Xhafer: Okay.

724

:

Laura: Also, It would be really odd, but

I guess it could be done for the Cylons

725

:

to give one of their own breast cancer.

726

:

Like,

727

:

Xhafer: Yeah,

728

:

Laura: it could, it would be

weird, but it could be done.

729

:

But it seems too weird.

730

:

So that's pretty much, like,

where I'm at is I don't think

731

:

those three people are Cylons.

732

:

Xhafer: three.

733

:

Okay, Okay, I'm gonna do a thing.

734

:

I,

735

:

Laura: Oh, do I have

736

:

Xhafer: hands, no, no, no, no, no, On

my hands, I have three numbers, right?

737

:

Laura: Uh Huh.

738

:

Xhafer: One of these hands

shows how many you got right.

739

:

One of these hands shows

how many you got wrong.

740

:

I'm not gonna tell you which is which.

741

:

But I will show you the counts.

742

:

Okay.

743

:

Laura: Okay.

744

:

Xhafer: Okay,

745

:

Laura: Hmm.

746

:

Xhafer: I'm holding up two fingers on

one hand and one on the other because

747

:

I just remembered that this is an audio

format and y'all need that, sorry.

748

:

Laura: Oh boy, that sucks.

749

:

Okay.

750

:

Neat.

751

:

Neat.

752

:

Xhafer: a little air of mystery, you know?

753

:

Laura: Okay, well, Anyway, after

we stabbed Tyrell in the dick

754

:

he goes to meet Boomer again.

755

:

Xhafer: Yeah,

756

:

Laura: But this time, it's over.

757

:

Xhafer: yeah, he ends the relationship.

758

:

He refuses to put his relationship

and happiness above his crew,

759

:

Laura: Mhm.

760

:

Xhafer: is the nice way of saying it.

761

:

She does not handle this well though.

762

:

Laura: The fact that she even demanded

an explanation from him is wild to me.

763

:

Like, you are close enough to

this whole situation that you

764

:

should fucking know exactly why

you're being broken up with here.

765

:

And you should have, like, been

grappling with it before you got to

766

:

this moment in the water tanks again.

767

:

Xhafer: for sure.

768

:

Laura: Like, What the fuck, Boomer.

769

:

Don't be so stupid.

770

:

She's a stupid Cylon.

771

:

She's stupid and Cylon.

772

:

Xhafer: Yeah.

773

:

Laura: She's pretty petulant here.

774

:

When he explains the obvious to her.

775

:

And starts to walk away.

776

:

And that's when we have the moment.

777

:

He asks about the hatchcombing.

778

:

And she refuses to answer him.

779

:

Xhafer: Yep.

780

:

Laura: Just walks away.

781

:

Xhafer: That's the

782

:

Laura: Credits.

783

:

Xhafer: On a scale of 1 to 12

784

:

colonies.

785

:

How do you feel about this one?

786

:

Laura: Well.

787

:

I think I like it a little bit

better than the last one because

788

:

I'm not distracted by those like,

how did you get the thing to seal?

789

:

And how did you find the

oxygen tube and not the poop

790

:

Xhafer: suing all over the universe?

791

:

Yeah.

792

:

Laura: Yeah.

793

:

Yeah.

794

:

And it has that, you know,

like 12 angry men, like the

795

:

crucible

796

:

vibes.

797

:

Mm hmm.

798

:

It's really, really

intense and really strong.

799

:

So I would bump this one back up to 10.

800

:

Xhafer: Yeah.

801

:

I love this episode.

802

:

This is an 11 for me.

803

:

Laura: yeah, yeah, I, I am

mad at some characters because

804

:

they are behaving stupidly, but

it's believable human stupid.

805

:

I'm very curious about our Cylons,

who really want to be, they just want

806

:

a hug from Mommy and Daddy, I think.

807

:

I think that's what they really need.

808

:

Maybe we just need Adama and Rosalyn

to sit down and love their children.

809

:

I don't know.

810

:

There was a lot to chew on in here, a lot

to wonder about, and I would be really

811

:

surprised if we just completely leave

witch hunting in the past, in the show.

812

:

Xhafer: Well, we'll see

how Gaius's work goes.

813

:

Laura: Yeah.

814

:

Xhafer: Clearly it wants to

be stopped by the Cylons.

815

:

So,

816

:

Laura: Yep.

817

:

And it's so strange, 6BT

really wants a Cylon detector.

818

:

Or something that looks like

a Cylon detector, perhaps.

819

:

Xhafer: Does she?

820

:

Laura: Well, I don't know.

821

:

She really wants him to continue

822

:

Xhafer: She really wants

him to have a nuke.

823

:

Laura: Yeah, that's true.

824

:

She really wants Something about

the project to be continuing.

825

:

Is it actually the Cylon detector or is it

a nuke or is there a secret third option?

826

:

I don't know about yet.

827

:

Xhafer: Yeah.

828

:

All right.

829

:

Well, you ready to hear the

description of next episode?

830

:

I,

831

:

Laura: Yeah, I'm, I'm very curious

as to the description you got,

832

:

because I had the Apple TV one that

833

:

was kind of spoilery, but not too

834

:

Xhafer: I wrote this one to be less

spoilery than the one that I saw,

835

:

Laura: Okay.

836

:

Xhafer: which is when, when Baltar

and the number six who lives in

837

:

his head have a falling out, she

abandons him only to surface a short

838

:

while later aboard the Galactica has

Shelley Godfrey, an associate of Dr.

839

:

Amarak.

840

:

Laura: Hmm.

841

:

Yeah, we remember Dr.

842

:

Amarak.

843

:

He was the doctor that was

going to come on board in 33.

844

:

Xhafer: Yeah.

845

:

Laura: Is that the

episode where it happened?

846

:

Yeah, I think it was 33 because like

we're jumping all over and we can't

847

:

get this guy on board and then he

happened to be on the Olympic carrier.

848

:

But he claimed to have proof that

Gaius was involved in the shutting

849

:

down of Caprico's defenses.

850

:

Xhafer: so we'll see

where this one takes us.

851

:

Laura: I'm very

852

:

excited.

853

:

Xhafer: But before we do,

854

:

we have to say thank you to Jeremy Siegel.

855

:
